Description

We can’t overstate how much we love these sweet bee skeps! A modern take on traditional skeps used to collect honeybee swarms in days of old, they can be used for nesting bees or simply for garden décor.

Each is carefully woven by hand from sustainable seagrass, with fibres taken from recycled saris adding a vivid pop of colour. As the saris used will vary from skep to skep, the end product is completely unique.

The tightly woven design is water resistant and provides valuable insulation. To best encourage bees, place the skep in a sheltered spot preferably raised off the soft ground.

You can anchor the skep with tent pegs for a little extra stability. It can also be helpful to brace the inside with twigs to give bees a starting structure and material to build their nest around.

Planting wildflowers or other pollinating flowers close to the skep will help attract bees and provide a valuable food source.
